Early works by big name kids’ book creators on display
IF you’ve ever wanted to see some of the earliest work by Australia’s best-known children’s authors and illustrators, then the Juvenilia exhibition at Seymour Library is for you.
Whether it was handwriting stories on scrap paper or drawing pictures in pencil, some of today’s most prominent creators of children’s books started when they were young.
Works by Andy Griffiths, Alison Lester, Graeme Base, Ursula Dubosarsky, Danny Katz, Oliver Phommavanh and many more will be on show.
In a statement, Mitchell Shire mayor Cr Fiona Stevens said it would be a fantastic chance to see the early work of these well-known creators.
“Everyone had to start somewhere, and this exhibition shows the humble beginnings of the storytellers and artists we all know and love,” she said.
“It will be a fun family event and I encourage people in Seymour and surrounds to come to the launch event and check it out.”
The exhibition opens on Friday, 17 March at 4.30pm with Star Wars illustrator Chris Kennett on hand to sign books.
It runs until Thursday, 27 April during normal library opening hours.
