Easter get-together builds community bonds

LAST week’s Costerfield Easter community barbecue combined sausages and chocolate eggs with neighbourhood spirit when a small but appreciative crowd assembled for a seasonal get-together.

Held at the Costerfield Hall, long-time residents Marj Harris and Marg MacAfee both also marked their 80th birthdays at the gathering.

Mandalay Resources community advisor Jodie O’Donohue said the company liked to contribute to the local community and the barbecue was part of that.

“It’s also a platform to let them know what’s going on at the mine,” she said.

“I think it’s a lovely opportunity to celebrate these birthdays too, because it’s a real milestone.”
