THE Heathcote and district employment expo on Tuesday, 2 May is aiming to give job seekers, career changers, and employers the chance to connect.

Heathcote Community House executive officer Vicki Forde said the event was a great way to find out about local options.

“Come along regardless of where you live, come from surrounding towns,” she said. “With all that we’ve got to offer in Heathcote, it’s a beautiful place to work.

“You’re not driving in Melbourne traffic to get here and there’s lots of change happening in town.

“The expo isn’t just for those who are unemployed, or are looking for career changes, or to get back into the workforce; there’s a lot of government assistance that can really help both employers and employees and there’ll be information about that too.

“You can also come along and find out information for someone else if they can’t make it.”

Heathcote Health is one of the many employers who will be at the expo.

Their customer and consumer relationship manager Sandra Whytcross said the organisation offered many opportunities and the chance to progress through the ranks.

“I’ve worked for Heathcote Health for 22 years,” she said. “It’s place you can start off in one role, develop skills and then change your role into a different one.

“We’ve had people that have started in our support services teams that have ended up being nursing staff. We’re very keen on training people up and upskilling.

“It’s a great place to work. It’s part of the community and the community are part of it.

Representatives from support agencies will also be at the expo making it a one-stop shop for everything employment related.

The event runs from midday to 2pm at Barrack Reserve, 126 High Street, Heathcote and to register call Ms Forde on 0431 328 421.
