ORGANISERS of the inaugural Heathcote Running Club run were pleased with the number of participants who joined them last Saturday.

Participants ran along a five-kilometre course through Heathcote and finished with coffee at Fodder.

“It was really good to have so many people join us for the first run,” said co-organiser Nicky Walker.

“Everyone ran at their own pace. There was no pressure; everyone could just rock up and do as much or as little as they wanted.

“We all have different goals and reasons for running. It’s all about doing something positive, for a specific goal or just for yourself.

“Best of all it’s free so anyone can participate.”

Runners met beside Barrack Reserve for a stretch and warm-up before the run.

“We planned a course around the town and some participants did the whole five kilometres while others took a shorter route.

“Participants don’t have to run every week and whether you run, walk or push a pram, everyone is welcome.

“We would love to see whole families involved.”

Douglas Thornton said it was great to see everyone encouraging each other.

“It doesn’t matter what level you are at, you can just get out and have a go.

“The whole group was really supportive and positive.”
