AFTER a reduced season due to an electrical fault causing patrons to receive shocks, Heathcote Swimming Pool will mark the end of the season with a pool party on Sunday.

The pool was closed for almost 12 months as the City of Greater Bendigo, Belgravia and the local reference group worked towards reopening the pool.

The party will include games with prizes, including Ping Pong Lucky Dip, Fill the Bucket Challenge and Pool Noodle Limbo.

“Prizes for the games are being provided by Segafredo Bakery, Community Bank Heathcote and District, and Heathcote Lions Club,” said pool manager Briony Halliday.

“There will also be chalk available for drawing on the concrete.

“The pool will open at 12pm with the barbecue operated by the Lions Club from 1.30pm. Entry is free.

“The first games will commence at 1.45pm and Indi Gilmore will provide music from 2pm to 5pm.

“We are grateful for the support from local businesses with bread for the barbecue being supplied by Segafredo Bakery and Community Bank supplying the sausages.”

Ms Halliday said that despite frustrations at the delay in opening the pool, she is grateful for the support from community members.

“I’d like to thank the community for coming and enjoying our local pool, for being so welcoming and encouraging,” she said.

“People have given us some great feedback on things they would like to see happen and what needs to be fixed.

“I am hoping to be back next season and really looking forward to it.”
