IMAGES of Africa, Mallacoota, the Heathcote region, and more feature in a new exhibition at Heathcote Winery.

Works by local photographers Eugene Dopheide, Glynn Murfitt, Pauline Moore, Jessica Toifl, and Bo and Melissa Vejby are on show until Monday, 10 July.

Dopheide said the collaborative exhibition was a chance to see the work of talented locals.

“Just before COVID, we started a photography group and tried to set up a photography club,” he said.

“We didn’t really have enough interest, but we have a few contributors who date back to then.

“This is really about giving some of those people, and a few new ones, a chance to show what they can do with photography.”

Photos are for sale and Dopheide said there were a range of options on offer.

“We have some that are framed,” he said. “There are canvas prints which you can hang on the wall, and we also have baskets with unframed prints.”

An experienced photographer, Dopheide has been expanding his skillset with a foray into judging.

“I’ve recently done a course in image evaluation,” he said. “I’m now finishing up one at level two.”

Yet his passion for looking at the world through a camera lens has not dimmed.

“I like to follow my nose,” he said. “What I do is if I see something, I try to work the subject.

“There are many different angles to look at, and then you start to think about which lens is best or which settings are best, do you want to show movement or not?

“I’d like to do a bit more of that, showing movement.

“I seem to be pushed in the direction of fauna as a subject and I’m becoming more fascinated with birds.”

The exhibition is open from 11am to 5pm daily at Heathcote Winery, 183-185 High Street, Heathcote until Monday, 10 July.
