Family fun all long weekend
THE Bendigo Easter Festival will in be full swing again this year from Good Friday to Easter Monday.
Many of the events will be held at Rosalind Park, including performances, a kids’ zone, carnival rides, market stalls, and food trucks.
Other community activities take place across the weekend, including the Rotary Bendigo Easter Art Fair, and a Family Day at Lake Weeroona run by the Bendigo Easter Fair Society.
City of Greater Bendigo spokesperson Cr Rod Fyffe said people should check out the event list to see what’s on.
“I encourage people to browse the new look program for festival favourites and familiarise yourself with this year’s format,” he said.
Bendigo’s newest Chinese dragon will feature at the traditional street parade on Sunday, starting at View Street at the Rowan Street intersection and finishing at the rear of the Golden Dragon Museum.
“It is a highlight in the Easter calendar with Dai Gum Loong majestically weaving through the streets, bringing together Chinese lions, bands, and a variety of community and cultural groups,” said Cr Fyffe.
As part of the weekend there’ll be several road closures in place including Mundy Street between Pall Mall to Lyttleton Terrace, Sidney Myer Place and William Vahland Place from Pall Mall to Rosalind Park, Bull Street from Pall Mall to Hargreaves Street, Pall Mall between View St and Chapel Street and View, McCrae, Chapel and Bridge streets.
