PREPATIONS for the thirteenth annual Heathcote Film Festival are in full swing.

The committee has received over seventy short film submissions, covering all genres and coming from all over the world.

They are now in the process of watching these and selecting the best.

“This is a fascinating process as it involves watching a broad array of films, from Albanian comedies, to Italian horror films, to local Australian dramas,” said committee member Duncan McGann.

“As the festival becomes more widely known and respected in the world of filmmakers, we are receiving ever more high-quality submissions from well-regarded directors, both here and internationally.

“It is a very gratifying process, and we are proud to bring such high-quality films to regional Victoria.

“There is a lot of work going on behind the scenes, and given that the committee are all volunteers, it is fantastic to see these efforts rewarded.

“It is also gratifying that we have the support of an ever-growing list of local businesses, without whom the festival could simply not run.”

This year, the festival will be running over the last weekend in August.

“We will have the ever popular ‘Popcorn and Picnic’ session on Friday 29 August, and the gala dinner on Saturday 30 August,” Mr McGann said.

“We are very pleased that Monsieur Pierre of Kyneton will once again be catering this event with an elegant three course menu served during intermissions between the selection of films.”

Ticket sales will commence on 28 June for both sessions. For more information go to heathcotefilmfestival.com.au.
