Fishing Friends enjoy the moment

KEEN anglers from Heathcote Angling Club braved the rain for the monthly Fishing Friends outing at Reflections at Eppalock last weekend.
The event is held in conjunction with Dementia Alliance providing an opportunity for people living with dementia and their caregivers to connect over a favourite pastime.
“It is not just fishing,” said angling club president Rudi Frahm.
“It is a way of making connections with people who need support.
“Whether you are an experienced angler or you just want some good company, everyone is welcome to come to our events.

“It is all about slowing down, enjoying the moment and building friendships in the great outdoors.
“People can fish or just sit and chat while supporting loved ones.”
Dementia Alliance is a community-based organisation supporting people living with dementia, their carers, and families across the Bendigo region and beyond.
Reflections at Eppalock was created by Dementia Alliance as a space where carers, people living with dementia, and community members can come together to rest, reconnect, and rediscover joy.
Their mission is to build inclusive, dementia-friendly communities through connection, participation, and understanding.

In addition to the Fishing Friends events, Reflections at Eppalock also holds a carers lunch on the first Monday of each month, and a craft group on the last Friday of each month.
The gardening group meets on the second and fourth Wednesdays.
