HEATHCOTE U3A will hold a Let’s Be Creative day on Thursday 3 April.

Participants can learn how to mosaic a teapot stand or make paper flowers, Easter baskets and aeroplanes while enjoying a cuppa with other members.

“U3A is all about learning, living and having fun,” president Nancy Miller said.

“The Let’s Be Creative day is all about providing members with something different. I hope everyone who attends takes away some new ideas but most of all has fun.

“Some might discover a hidden talent while others will simply enjoy watching and socialising with other members. It’s all good.

“My sister Fiona Hackett has an artist studio in Cobram and will be leading the mosaic workshop. I will be leading the other activities, ably assisted by fellow members.”

Ms Hackett is an accomplished potter, welder, painter and mosaic artist.

“The cost for the mosaics is $15 to cover the materials used,” Ms Miller said. “The other activities are free.

“There is a limit of seven participants for the mosaics.

“Fiona will bring pre-cut tiles to be glued onto a larger tile, but the design is entirely up to each participant.

“Once glued, the teapot stand will need to sit for an hour while the glue dries, and it can be finished.

“Participants can enjoy a cuppa while they wait and join in with the other activities.”

Let’s Be Creative will be held at the Guide Hall in High Street, Heathcote.

Anyone interested in joining U3A can contact Ms Miller on 5433 3486.

Everyone is welcome.
