In contrast to past years where foundation students dressed up as 100-year-old people, this year they invited the whole school to celebrate with them.
“100 Days Brighter celebrates the first 100 days of school for our foundation students,” said HPS principal Carolyn Crowther.
“Our celebration included a parade, special 100 themed activities and finished with a whole school disco.
“All students and staff were encouraged to wear brightly coloured clothes to celebrate the learning that has occurred for everyone in the first 100 days.
“Learning is one of our school values.”
The foundation students reflected on some of the things they have learnt.
“I’ve learnt how to count to 100,” said Heidi. “And I can get to the end of the monkey bars now.”
One student was pleased to be able to read new words while another is proud to be able to spell hard words.
“I am very proud of the learning we’ve achieved so far this year,” said foundation teacher Kirsty Hamilton.
“I can’t wait to see what we achieve together in the rest of the year.”
At the end of the day, the foundation students all agreed it was a great way to celebrate, especially the disco, wearing bright clothes and playing on the big kids’ playground.
