HEATHCOTE Community House, in conjunction with Healthy Loddon Campaspe, will be hosting free cooking workshops during May.
The sessions will be held at the community house.
“We are excited to cook and learn with and from Open Table who have such amazing food programs,” said community house executive officer Vicki Forde.
Open Table is a not-for-profit registered charity which aims to provide fresh, healthy food to the community whilst reducing food waste and decreasing food insecurity.
“There will be a pickling and fermenting session on Saturday 10 May from 10 to 11am,” said Ms Forde. “Participants will learn to pickle and ferment their own veggies.
“On Saturday 24 May we will host a Zero Waste Cooking – Veggie Fritters and Quick Pickles workshop from 10 to 11.30am. Participants will learn to cook without wasting produce.
“We thank Healthy Loddon Campaspe for the opportunity to host these workshops.
“There are still places available if anyone is interested. We look forward to more workshops in the future from local sources demonstrating no food waste cooking, including food storage techniques like picking and fermenting.”
