Free entertainment and lots of food at this year’s show!
FOOD and free entertainment will be major features of this year’s Heathcote show.
Old favourites will return, alongside many new attractions.
“There will be lots to eat and lots to do,” said Robyn Donovan, show secretary.
“The Lions Club will be there with their barbeque, and we will have twisting and baked potatoes, Asian food, whipped ice cream, and hot jam donuts.
“Other stalls will feature alpaca crafts, children’s novelty masks, dog products including beef jerky, dreamcatchers with hanging mobiles and key rings, and home-made bath products.
“And, of course, we can’t forget the show bag stall.
“Among the free activities for children will be face painting, a wildlife meet and greet, and Professor Wallace’s puppet show featuring traditional and modern puppets and audience interaction.
“Farmer Darryl will return with his animals and there will be a gardening stall where children can decorate a pot and plant a plant.”
One of the most popular events at the last show in 2019 was the ferret racing and it will return this year, sponsored by Mandalay Mining Resources.
“Everybody loved it,” said Ms Donovan. “This year children can go to the secretary’s office when they arrive and have their name put on a ferret and watch it race.
“Food and free entertainment, you can’t go wrong.”
The Heathcote Show will be held at the showgrounds on Melbourne Cup Day, Tuesday 7 November, with gates opening at 9am. Entry for adults is $12 and free for under 16s.
