AS the season of gift giving approaches, a series of handmade items will be available to purchase at the annual Uniting Threads craft stall next month.

The sale will be held on Saturday 2 December from 9am until 1pm at St Andrew’s Uniting Church with Devonshire tea also available.

There will be a large variety of items for sale including decorations, bunting, cards, tea towels, needle cases, bookmarks and covered coat hangers.

A raffle will also take place with the winner receiving one of the group’s quilts.

“There will be lots of things people can buy there which might be suitable for Christmas gifts,” said quilter and group member Anita Lowe.

“The money that is raised will go towards the work we do which helps the community.”

Uniting Threads is a group which makes quilts that are donated to the Bendigo Community.

“The group started more than 10 years ago and for people in aged care facilities or in other situations is something that’s given to them that cheers them up,” said Ms Lowe.

“They can have it on their bed and it makes their room feel nice.”

All proceeds from the craft stall will go towards the cost of materials and servicing the sewing machines.

“It’s really about contributing to the community and giving people something that makes them feel better,” said Ms Lowe.

“The women enjoy being together and using their skills in the craft if quilting to give something to the community.”
