Good comedy for a great cause
A GLITTERING line-up featuring some of Australia’s best established and emerging comedians will descend on the Engine Room Theatre in View Street to raise money for men’s health later this month.
All proceeds from the evening will be handed over to the Movember Foundation, which has bankrolled more than 1250 projects aimed at men’s mental health, suicide prevention, and prostate and testicular cancer since 2003.
Headlining the fifth edition of the show will be superstar Ivan Aristeguieta, who’ll be more than ably supported by Danny McGinlay, Luka Muller, Sam Gebreselassie and Dane Knowles.
Event producer and funny man Luke Morris, who’s also performing, said attendees can look forward to a welcoming, inclusive, fun night that will leave them “more positive about the silly world we live in.”
“The line-up is huge,” he said. “So much talent.”
“Danny McGinlay is a modern legend, Luka is a champ, Sam’s a star on the rise, and Dane is brilliant, but Ivan Aristeguieta, he is a full-on celebrity that Bendigo has never seen before.”
Morris said while there is a lot involved in organising such an event, “Basically it’s better doing something than nothing.”
“I have a particular set of skills, skills acquired over a long time, and I know what it is like to feel terrible,” he said.
“So, I want to give people a reason to feel good.”
“If I could encourage one person, who had a bad day, week, month or year to attend, and make them leave filled with joy, those are the extra ones I want to see, because sometimes we all need a laugh.”
Movember Comedy Night 2022 takes place at the Engine Room Theatre on Wednesday, 30 November.
