REAL estate developer Wel.Co has announced it’ll become a major naming sponsor of the Huntly Football Netball Club for the 2023 season.

The company which will sponsor the Heathcote District Football League club has some AFL pedigree with former Essendon Football Club vice-captain Andrew Welsh the founder and managing director.

Mr Welsh said Wel.Co was committed to backing regional sporting clubs that rely on sponsors and volunteers to survive.

“Supporting grassroots sporting clubs like Harlowe Huntly Football Netball Club is one way the Wel.Co team and I help build stronger more vibrant communities,” he said.

“Sporting clubs, particularly in regional areas, deliver significant social and economic value to entire communities and with such a reliance on volunteers.

“It’s only through financial backing these organisations can continue to operate.”

Wel.Co has also introduced a rewards program for members of the clubs they sponsor, by offering gift cards and club donations for purchases with the developer.

For example, members of Huntly FNC who purchase a lot at the company’s Springwood estate would receive a gift card and the football club would receive a cash bonus.

Club president Jason Bawden said the sponsorship would play a role in the greater community not just at the football club.

“We are thrilled to have Wel.Co on board as our naming sponsor for the 2023 season,” he said.

“By extending its support to local organisations like the Harlowe Huntly Hawks, Wel.Co is playing an important role in strengthening the community and contributing to the overall spirit of Huntly.”
