THE Heathcote Tourism and Development Board met last week at the Heathcote Wine Hub.

Members discussed new initiatives in regional tourism.

“We met at the Heathcote Wine Hub which has seen an amazing transformation,” said Heathcote Tourism and Development president Peter Young.

“An asset to tourism in the area.

“Tourism in the Heathcote region is expanding, and we have entered a new Visitor Economy Partnership (VEP).

“Heathcote, as part of the now former Bendigo Tourism Board, has transitioned to Destination Greater Bendigo Loddon.

“HDT has a representative on the VEP.”

VEPs are independent destination management entities recognised by government as peak official voices for the visitor economy in their region.

VEPs work with the State Government, councils, regional tourism organisations and industry to support the growth of each region’s visitor economy.

“We are looking forward to a strong collaboration,” said Mr Young.

“Through the VEP, more government funding will be available to promote tourism in the area.

“As a combined body we will be able to access and utilise funding to promote the attractions and features in our region.”
