Honours for Mia Mia CFA members

FOUR CFA Life Membership medals were awarded when Mia Mia Fire Brigade held their pre-fire season presentation night recently.

Commander Dean Simmons and brigade administrative support officer Sharon Maloney attended to present the medals.

“It has been quite some time since our last presentation due to the interruption of COVID,” said brigade Captain Calvin Millard.

“The night started with a barbecue and pre-season meeting, followed by the presentations.”

Life memberships were awarded to Captain Calvin Millard for 40 years, Grant Hulls and former captain Anthony Ryan for 45 years, and Ned Upton for 55 years.

“The life members have all held numerous roles within the Mia Mia brigade and other brigades,” said Captain Millard.

“They have also held roles in different districts over their years of service.

“On the night we also presented certificates for five years’ service up to 65 years.”

In attendance to congratulate the recipients were fellow brigade members, their families and friends, Eppalock Group Officer Luke Carrarcher, and neighbouring Heathcote Captain Carl Watkins.
