HEATHCOTE Community House will be holding a course in basic wildlife rescue tomorrow.

Four experienced wildlife carers will be in attendance.

All have a variety of experience and will be happy to answer any questions.

It is not a course to become a wildlife carer, but the carers can advice attendees on what is needed to become accredited.

The course will give anyone with no knowledge the chance to learn about native wildlife.

Topics covered will include safety when rescuing, what to keep in your car, what to do if you come across injured wildlife and who to call.

“We feel so privileged to host these extraordinary carers,” said community house executive officer Vicki Forde.

“We thank Sue Kirwan for organising the workshop.

“Our community has been asking for the information and know how.

“This is a wonderful opportunity to learn how to care for the amazing creatures that share our environment and to gain vital skills that can make a difference.

“The heartwarming experience of helping a wounded or distressed animal can be deeply rewarding, and this workshop will equip you with the knowledge and tools to provide compassionate care.

“Together, we can make a positive impact on the lives of our local wildlife.”

A soup lunch will be provided, along with afternoon tea. Participants should bring a pen and paper for note taking.

The course will be held tomorrow, Saturday 14 June, from 11am to 4pm and cost is a gold coin donation which go to a local carer.
