HEATHCOTE Christmas Carols’ committee were thrilled at the response to their first year organising the annual community event.

The committee took over from the Lions Club.

Families, young and old, gathered on the Barrack Reserve oval with chairs and blankets, many enjoying picnics.

“It was wonderful to see the community out enjoying themselves,” said committee member Hannah Thomson.

“The committee would like to congratulate everyone who got up on stage to perform. We had such a great mix of ages and musical styles.

“There were many people who helped bring the event together. Mariah and I would like to say a very special thank you to Tania and Rob Malavisi who put in enormous effort to make sure the evening ran smoothly.

“We would also like to thank the Heathcote Fire Brigade for ensuring Santa didn’t get lost.

“We are grateful to our major sponsors Heathcote and District Community Bank and to Mandalay Resources who also gave a kind donation.

“Thank you to Frank Dailey from the Heathcote Lions who delivered all of the stage decorations and to Wright’s Transport for supplying the stage.”

The committee is looking forward to making next year’s carols another spectacular event and would like to extend an invitation to anyone who would like to join the committee.

“We’d love to have new committee members so if you’re interested in helping out in any way please email us at [email protected],” said Ms Thomson.
