It’s never too late to train your brain
HEATHCOTE Library will host Brain Training Games in a fun session next Thursday from 10am to 11am.
Participants will test their memories and tease their brains with a range of different games and challenges for computers and smart devices.
“Our brains are 90 per cent developed by the age of five,” Karen Madsen from Goldfields Library Corporation said.
“By our teenage years brains start pruning away any neural connects it no longer uses, which is why it becomes harder, but not impossible, to learn new things.
“Exercising the brain reinforces our neural connections, helping to keep them strong as we age.
“Reading, writing, physical activity and learning new skills all contribute to keeping our brains fit, healthy and flexible.
“There are some great apps and online games available that you can play to test your memory, literacy, maths and all sorts of other skills.
“Benefits of brain training include improved memory, better attention span, improved reaction time, and ability to plan ahead.”
The session is free, and bookings can be made via Eventbrite.
“Everyone is welcome,” Ms Madsen said.
“Bring your own device and be prepared for some fun.”
