ENVIRONMENTALLY conscious groups are being invited to apply for a Healthy Cities Landcare Grant.
Following a successful grant round last year, Landcare Australia and Bupa are leading the program which offers funding for community groups and organisations to plant native species in urban and peri-urban communities.
Applications close on Friday 22 August with grants ranging from $5000 to $25,000.
The grants are open nation-wide to Landcare groups, not-for-profit networks and other community-led environmental groups.
“These efforts encouraged outdoor community participation, enhanced wildlife corridors, and improved the liveability of cities by creating green spaces,” Landcare Australia’s Millie Webber said.
“Local groups in your area may be interested in applying for this opportunity.
“They have to be quick as applications are open for a limited time.”
Last year the program supported the planting of 106,500 native trees, shrubs and ground covers across Australia.
The Bupa Landcare Grants Program is an initiative of Bupa’s Healthy Cities program, which aims to deliver positive health outcomes for both people and the planet.
“It’s incredibly rewarding to continue this program for another year with Bupa and witness the positive impact it’s already had in communities across the country,” Landcare Australia CEO, Dr Shane Norrish said.
“I’m excited to see how this new round of funding will support communities, encourage outdoor activity for wellbeing, while protecting and enhancing local environments.”
