THE induction of two new members at the recent Lions Club Changeover Dinner means the club will be able to continue.

Last year, it was feared the club would not be able to continue if it could not attract new members.

Kim Munro and Claire Mayer were inducted.

“It is wonderful to have two new members join the club,” said secretary Lorraine Spiers.

“Last year we made the difficult decision that we would have to fold if we were unable to attract new members.

“It would have been a great loss to the community, so we are grateful Kim and Claire have joined our ranks.

“We were very pleased to be able to induct them at our changeover dinner.

“Twenty-four Lions, friends and guests attended the dinner along with cabinet secretary Des Jones and Sue Jones, and zone chairman Peter Bryar.

“It was our 54th Changeover Dinner and we are grateful to the Heathcote Bowls Club for catering.”

Office bearers for the coming year are, Greg Speirs (president), Lorraine Speirs (secretary) and Merle Niclasen (treasurer).

New members are always welcome to join the Heathcote Lions Club, and anyone interested can contact Mr Speirs on 0408 332 235.
