HEATHCOTE residents gathered for another Coffee with a Cop at Segafredos Bakery on Tuesday.
The popular event gives locals a chance to meet with members of the police force in an informal setting.
Police personnel from Heathcote and Axedale attended, handing out vouchers for residents to claim a free coffee.
“This is the second one I’ve been to,” said Grant Baker. “I’m a devil for punishment.
“At almost 82 years of age, I have lived here all my life and I’m almost a local.
“Seriously, I think our police do a great job for our local community.”
Rick Watson agreed that the events were good for the community.
“I think it’s a good idea for residents to get to know the police as people not just police officers,” he said.
“I have a lot of respect for them and what they do. My dad’s brother was a policeman.”
Leading Senior Constable Dale Petri said it was a great turn out.
“It is a good way to get to know locals and get their point of view about what’s going on in their town.
“I would like to encourage everyone with any queries to give us a call.
“We have a lot of through traffic and sometimes hoons.
“Residents can let us know through the Police Assistance Line on 131 444. We will investigate any incidents.”
Sergeant Holly Lembke agreed.
“It was a great morning and we enjoyed talking with residents,” she said.
“We learnt about issues in the community including hoon driving and where it is commonly occurring.”
