HEATHCOTE Health announced the return of on-site X-ray services to the Heathcote community last week, following the departure of Bendigo Radiology on 30 June.
The new service is being delivered by Bendigo Health Medical Imaging, ensuring residents have continued access to essential medical imaging close to home.
Services will operate from the Heathcote Health campus three days a week – Monday, Wednesday and Friday, from 9.30am to 1pm.
Heathcote Health director of clinical care Angie Dredge welcomed the return of X-ray services, noting the importance of accessible care for local residents.
“Having X-ray services back in Heathcote means that our community can continue to receive the care they need closer to home,” Ms Dredge said.
“We are grateful to our new provider, Bendigo Health Medical Imaging, who have worked closely with us to facilitate this smooth transition.
“The reintroduction of these services to Heathcote Health will ensure patients receive the effective diagnosis and treatment of a range of conditions, to promote effective outcomes and ensure excellent care is maintained for our community.”
Heathcote resident Charlie Miller was one of the first to use the new service and was pleased with its introduction.
“We have a fantastic hospital, and I’m really pleased to see the X-ray department back, so people don’t have to travel,” Mr Miller said.
Community members requiring an X-ray can be referred by their GP or treating clinician.
Appointments will be managed through Heathcote Health in partnership with Bendigo Health Medical Imaging.
