HEATHCOTE Football Netball Club will take a financial hit after five sponsorship signs were stolen from Barrack Reserve oval recently.

Club president Rebecca Dickinson said all the signs had disappeared in mid-June.

“We had two home games, one on the 17th and one on the 24th,” she said. “We noticed they were gone on the 24th.”

Ms Dickinson said the signs were worth about $450 each.

“We put them up as part of sponsorship packages, when you buy a particular package, you get a sign with it which we organise and pay for,” she said.

“So, it’s up to us to pay for the replacements.

Ms Dickinson said that while they would be able to find the money, it was more than $2000 that could have otherwise been spent on club activities.

“It will affect the general running of the club,” she said. “We also don’t want to upset our sponsors when they’re not seeing the signs and advertising on the fence that they paid for.”

Leading Senior Constable Dale Petri from Heathcote Police Station said at this point authorities had no leads and were keen to hear from anyone who had information about the thefts.

“It’s a community club and this is a real blow to them,” he said.

“If there’s anyone out there that can assist us, please call Heathcote Police on 5433 3711 or Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000.”
