RESIDENTS who work in rural industries and are looking to upskill in 2023 can apply for a scholarship to help fund their training.

Community Bank Heathcote & District and Bendigo Bank Nagambie’s rural scholarship program offers up to $3000 to assist with fees, accommodation and travel.

Branch manager Teri Johnson said the rural scholarship program was launched in recognition of the district’s significant agricultural base.

“We love to support our district’s farming community,” she said. “Rural scholarships allow everyone in our community to broaden their rural skills.

“Our rural scholarship program is run between both our Heathcote & District and Nagambie branches.

“In 2022 we were very pleased to support Nagambie brothers Darby and Bryce with the cost of their studies at Yanco Agricultural High School in New South Wales.

“It’s through the support we received from our customers that we are able to offer programs like this.

“We invite anyone who would like to expand their skillset to make an application.”

Applications for the scholarship are open to individuals of all ages who wish to sharpen their skills or extend their tertiary training in any of the rural industries, whether it is via a short welding course, a diploma in small business studies or one of many other options.

Applications open on Monday, 27 February and will close Friday, 7 April.

They can be made online via bit.ly/3YWNTWc or by picking up a form from the Heathcote or Nagambie branches of the bank.
