Moving and grooving
HEATHCOTE Community House, Healthy Loddon Campaspe and Capture Your Essence are inviting children aged three-to-five and six-to-twelve to try yoga.
The Move, Groove and Stretch sessions are designed for young children and include balance, stretches, movement and music.
Sessions are facilitated by Tania Biagioni from Capture Your Essence.
“Through yoga, stretches, movement and music, we build muscle, flexibility and healthy relationships with our bodies,” said Ms Biagioni.
“I am slowly introducing meditation, a skill that will have benefits lasting a lifetime.
“And, as always, laughter is always encouraged.
“Developing a mind body connection improves body confidence and mental health.”
The sessions are held every Thursday from 4pm to 4.30pm for three-to-five-year-olds and from 4.30pm to 5pm for six-to-12-year-olds at the Senior Citizens and Guide Hall, 127 High Street.
Each session costs $5 per child.
“How fortunate we are to have funding to run a pilot to see if community wants this activity,” said community house executive officer Vicki Forde.
“We are very grateful to Healthy Loddon Campaspe for helping to fund the program.
“Parents consistently advise that they want a choice of activities not competitive sports.
“We look forward to delivering more sustainable programs in the future.”
