STAFF from the City of Greater Bendigo are searching for a Victoria-based artist to design a work for a paste-up mural in the middle of town.

Municipal officers are interested in expressions of interest from mural and street artists who have experience delivering such work for the job.

The piece will be a maximum size of eleven-by-six metres and will be displayed on the red brick wall of the former Fire Station Building facing Dudley House.

City Creative Communities Coordinator Maree Tonkin said it was a great opportunity for someone to produce an exciting new artwork.

“There is no theme for the work, but artists will need to propose an original piece that best demonstrates creative practice, talent and skill, and has not been repeated elsewhere,” she said.

“The City is excited to have secured another large-scale canvas ready for someone to leave their creative mark.

“Any artist working in Victoria is welcome to apply.

“The finished artwork will be a great addition to the street art scene across Greater Bendigo, which includes Pennyweight Walk, Chancery Lane, Myers Street, and Bath Lane.”

To express interest in creating the artwork, visit the City of Greater Bendigo website before Friday 9 February and search ‘paste-up mural’.
