HEATHCOTE Post Office now offers free parcel lockers that allow customers to both send and pick up packages at any time.

Co-owner Bryan Linnell said the new facility was suitable for almost everybody to use.

“If you’re leaving the area to go to work; going early, coming home late, it’s certainly worthwhile thinking about using them,” he said.

“It’s very simple to operate, once we put the parcel into the locker, the system sends a six-digit code to your mobile phone number.

“When you come in you scan the QR code, then enter your release code plus your mobile phone number and one of the doors will open.

“It’s a very simple process, if you’ve got any doubts just come into the shop and we’ll go out and show you how it works.”

Mr Linnell said there were currently only three to four parcels per day addressed to parcel lockers, but there were more than 60 available for use.

“We want everyone to experience the joy of parcel lockers,” he said.

Unlike traditional post office boxes, parcel lockers are used for a single transaction and uncollected items are taken into the shop after 48 hours for collection during business hours.

Heathcote’s parcel lockers are at the rear of the post office and have security cameras and bright lighting at night.

A MyPost account is needed to set up a parcel locker address. Visit the Australia Post website for more information or talk to the staff at Heathcote Post Office.
