New sports opportunities for Heathcote PS

HEATHCOTE Primary School students could soon be able to try new sports following to a donation from the Heathcote Lions Club.

Club members Lorraine and Greg Speirs presented a cheque for $2000 to principal Kate Ballantyne at a school assembly last Friday.

“We greatly appreciate this support from the Lions Club,” said Ms Ballantyne. “This money will enable us to purchase soft ball and volleyball equipment to add to our existing sport program.

“The Lions Club are always supportive of our school with donations like this and student scholarships.”

Ms Speirs spoke to the assembly of students and parents about the work of the Lions Club.

“I think it’s great that the Lions can help schools with sport and it’s wonderful to see so many kids coming back to sport and, in particular, being able to try new sports,” he said.

“We are only a small group and always on the lookout for new members to join and help raise funds for the community.”
