AFTER thirteen years together, country/bluegrass band the Gami Gami Devils will give their final performance at Palling Brothers Brewery tomorrow, 8 November.

The band has regularly performed at Palling Brothers, including several fundraising events for Loki’s Lodge animal rescue.

“Let’s rip it away, boys!” was the familiar battle cry of Michael “Mickey McLeathers” Gami before each show.

Alongside John “Babyface” Gami and James “Kenny Daring” Gami, he formed the heart of the Gami Gami Devils in 2012 after a one-off gig at Carters Public House in Northcote took on a life of its own.

They were soon joined by Pat “Irish” Gami, Michael “Croc” Gami, and Mark “Hotrod” Gami, the group building a sound that blended country,

Australiana, and a healthy dose of mischief.

Over time, Cousin Esa “Outlaw” Gami and Christie “CDub” Gami also added their own spark to the band’s evolving story.

From Cobden to Dandenong, from pubs and weddings to festivals and even online lockdown gigs, the Gamis kept the good times rolling.

Highlights included standout sets at the Whittlesea Country Music Festival, the Bendigo

Blues ‘n’ Roots Festival, and countless nights at their

spiritual home – Palling Bros Brewery.

Beyond the stage lights, the Gamis have always carried big hearts.

“Over the years, we’ve raised more than $10,000 with our generous Gami Family for charities including Loki’s Lodge, The Salvos, Buy a Bale, and The Cancer Council – giving back to the communities that gave

us so much support,” Mark Gami said.

After 13 unforgettable years, the Gami Gami Devils have made the tough call to wind down as family life and work commitments take centre stage.

“We will stay close, continue to collaborate, and no doubt reunite again when the universe aligns – because once a Gami, always a Gami,” Mr Gami said.

The Gami Gami Devils are hoping all the friends they have made in Heathcote will come along to their final performance.

“To our Gami family, families, and friends, thank you for every cheer, every dance, every bit of support you gave us as you allowed the privilege of

making music together all these years,” said Babyface, as he prepared for one last hoedown.

The performance will begin at 6.30pm at Palling Bros Brewery. Entry is free.
