Preparing for the fire season
HEATHCOTE CFA will hold an Open Day and Fire Safety Essentials session tomorrow.
There will be station tours at 10.30am and 12.30pm and the Fire Safety Essentials Session starts at 11.30 am.
“With the fire season fast approaching, it’s time to start thinking about property preparation, evacuation plans and what to do in an emergency,” said community safety coordinator Evan Pritchard.
“We are hosting an Open Day combined with a Fire Safety Essential Session tomorrow.
“It’s a great opportunity to meet your local Brigade members, tour the station and then listen to a presentation about how to prepare for the upcoming summer fire season.
“There will be donuts and dim sims for sale and Captain Koala will be there to welcome all the kids.”
Residents will learn about staying and defending, evacuation essentials, bushfire and pets, and property preparation tips.
“Beginning in November, Heathcote CFA will again be offering Property Advice Visits for residents,” said Mr Pritchard.
“Our local volunteer fire brigade has identified properties within Heathcote as having significant fire risk.
“The brigade can provide a one-on-one free property visit to discuss ways of minimising risk.
“Residents can learn how to prepare their properties, and plan for bad days and make good decisions.”
The service is free. To take advantage of the offer, contact Mr Pritchard at [email protected] or 0417 178 658.
