Pub church goes on tap
MEMBERS of the Heathcote Community Home Church and locals gathered at Palling Bros Brewery last weekend in a special service to celebrate the birth of Jesus.
Reverend Bron Jones, who with her husband John Robertson organised the event, said she was very pleased with the response.
“This is the third time we’ve held this event and I thought it went very smoothly,” said Rev Jones. “I think everyone enjoyed the service and hearing how Christmas began.
“It was wonderful to see some new faces, too. We had adults, children and even a dog.”
Reverend Jones played the flute, accompanied by Mr Robertson on guitar for the free event.
“Everybody liked singing the traditional carols and Trevor Moore read one of his beautiful poems,” said Reverend Jones.
“Several people told the story of Christmas through bible readings and we had Steph Hunt tell her story about Jesus in modern times.”
One attendee said he had never been to church in a brewery before.
“But I enjoyed it very much especially the carols,” said Bernie Membrey,
Reverend Jones said she was very grateful to Peter Pichut and Palling Bros Brewery for providing the space to hold the service.
“Peter is always very supportive and we are already looking forward to doing it again next year,” she said.
