Rare talent to play Ulumbarra
BENDIGO is set to host Canadian rock royalty in February when former Alexisonfire guitarist and singer Dallas Green performs an exclusive, one-off regional show at Ulumbarra Theatre as part of his national tour.
Going by the stage name City and Colour, Green will also stop off in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane during his travels, as well as appear at the nationwide SummerSalt Festival alongside Ben Harper, Alex the Astronaut, Middle Kids, The Rubens and Angus & Julia Stone.
Formed in Ontario in 2001, the post hardcore group Alexisonfire released a series of rapturously received, influential albums before going on a more than ten-year break from recording.
They released their fifth studio album, Otherness, in June this year.
Green’s solo project, City and Colour, was born in between early Alexisonfire tours, when he would perform in smaller venues to critical acclaim.
His solo work has been variously described as gentle, vulnerable, folk-influenced, brooding, dreamy and ethereal.
The tour will mark Green’s eighteenth visit to Australia, including seven with Alexisonfire, after last appearing at the Brisbane Festival in 2019.
His most recent studio album, A Pill For Loneliness, topped the Billboard charts in Canada, making it his fourth number one record in a row.
He has also been the recipient of three JUNOs (the Canadian version of the ARIAs), including two Songwriter of the Year awards.
The City and Colour performs with full band at Ulumbarra Theatre on Tuesday 7 February 2023.
