A CELEBRATION was had by the National Party last week with the opening of their new Northern Victoria electorate office.

Upper house MP for Northern Victoria, Gaelle Broad, said she was excited to be in the heart of town.

“It’s a great space to be in,” she said. “I have people tell me that upper house members are on the outskirts of town, in a smaller office.”

“And I think, no, we’re here to help people with State Government issues so to be in the centre of town is great, I want people to feel welcome.”

The renovated office space was formerly part of the Westpac building and is situated between the Officeworks and the bank.

One of five upper house MPs for the Northen Victoria Region, Ms Broad represents a large area spanning from Mildura to Corryong and down to the outskirts of Melbourne.

“Bendigo is a great location because it’s right in the centre of Victoria and it’s just a few hours’ drive,” she said.

“I think it’s great for me to be able to get around the region and listen to people and what’s going on.”

The office will be open during normal business hours to hear community concerns and Ms Broad said some of the key areas she wants to work on include energy, supporting business, and housing.

“A major concern as well is the state debt, just our economy, if we don’t have a strong economy then we don’t have much and we can’t deliver all the services that should exist to make Victoria such a wonderful place to live,” she said.

Ms Broad said she enjoyed the opening of her new office space and was delighted to see people from all parts of her life gathered to celebrate.

“I’m just very grateful to all of them for their support because a strong community, that’s what life is all about,” she said.
