HEATHCOTE & District Pony Club held its fourth annual Winter Woolies Show last weekend.

The event raised $2000 for the club with a raffle and gate prize.

“We are very grateful to our sponsors The Barn Pet Stock and Feed, Bendigo Horseland and Ashelle Hair and Beauty Boutique,” club president Melanie May said.

“We couldn’t do it without them.”

Event classes included Open, Pony Club, Novice, District and Fun Rings.

Sophia and her horse Cleo were awarded second prize.

“As well as our club members we had riders from other local pony clubs and individual riders attending,” Ms May said.

“Everyone had a fantastic day, and we were thrilled with the support from everyone who braved the cold to attend.”

The fancy dress class was popular with young riders and their horses were dressed in a variety of costumes.

“The kids go to a lot of effort and it’s always great to see,” Ms May said.

Poppy and her horse Leo made a formidable duo in Cruella De Vil inspired outfits.

The next event for the club will be the Freshmans Showjumping Day with the date to be announced soon.

“New members are always welcome,” Ms May said.

“We are a family orientated club with both kids and adults. We meet on the second Sunday of the month at the showgrounds.

“If anyone is interested, they can call 0408 850 685.”
