THE Heathcote Never-Give-Up group will present another unique fundraiser in aid of Motor Neurone Disease Victoria, this time on the Grand Final public holiday on Friday 29 September.

Bolf, a combination of bowls and golf, and billed as two great games for one great cause, is a concept devised by the group.

“After one of our bowling club members was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in 2015, fellow club members met on New Years Eve to find a way they could help,” said group member Peter Cunningham.

“We held our first fundraiser 26 days later, raising $22,000 for MND Victoria, and have continued ever since.”

MND Victoria provides support and information to people living with MND and their families as well as a free-of-charge equipment loan service.

“No experience or expertise is necessary,” said Mr Cunningham. “We have some equipment available for new players; just be prepared to have lots of fun. It’s all about having a go.”

Teams of four are preferred but individual entries are welcome and will be formed into groups.

The cost is $30 per person, which includes a two-course lunch featuring award-winning Tooborac Pies and a bottle of wine from main sponsor Red Edge for each player.

There will also be raffles and an auction.

“Local support is always amazing,” said Mr Cunningham.

“As well as Red Edge, our sponsors include Total Tools, Beauty Lies Within, Gaffney’s Bakery, Heathcote Post Office, Juniper Lounge, Heathcote IGA, Fetching Treasures, Fodder, Biers Motors, Commercial Hotel, Union Hotel, McIvor Meats, Watering Hole, Top Dog Liquor, Ironstone Park Nursery, Heathcote Golf Club and Heathcote Bowling Club.

“Why not get a group of friends together and have a go?”

The fun starts at the bowling club before moving to the golf club. To enter, contact Peter Cunningham on 0418 304 259.
