ABIGAIL-ELISE Lazenby is the winner of the Bendigo Bank Nagambie’s 2023 tertiary scholarship.

Ms Lazenby recently enrolled in a Bachelor of Biomedicine at La Trobe University in Bundoora and is now living on campus.

“The scholarship will take a lot of financial pressure off me and allow me to focus more on my studies,” she said. “It’s the equivalent of 11 weeks rent on campus.”

Ms Lazenby was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when she was 12 and this experience guided her tertiary study choices.

“I’m currently leaning towards specialising in type 1 diabetes education which will require more specialised learning once I complete my degree” she said.

“There is always more need to educate people about this condition.”

Bendigo Bank Nagambie branch manager Teri Johnson said it was exciting to be able to help young people further their education.

“It is through the support of our customers that we are able to offer scholarships like this and much more to our local communities,” she said.

Community Bank Heathcote & District and Bendigo Bank Nagambie also offer rural scholarships to support education in rural industries.
