See what the SES is all about

DESPITE lack of attendance at last week’s Heathcote SES Information Session, unit controller Darren O’Connor said interested members of the public are free to contact him any time.
More volunteers are always needed for the vital service.
“The cold wet weather probably kept people away but I am always happy to have people contact me so I can tell them what we do and what we have to offer them,” said Mr O’Connor.
“I know it’s tough too, with so many organisations in town all seeking volunteers. People only have so much time in their busy lives, but volunteering doesn’t have to be a huge commitment.
“We appreciate whatever time and skills people have to offer, whenever they can.

“Anyone interested can contact me on 0418 543 626 or call in to our headquarters at 3 Wright Street on Thursdays at 7pm when we train.”
Mr O’Connor said it was a good time to join the SES as they look forward to moving into a new shared facility with Heathcote CFA next year.
“We will have increased space and facilities enabling us to better help the community when the need arises,” he said.
“In times of crisis, storms and floods volunteers’ time and skills can save lives.
“If you are not sure what is involved, drop in and see us and find out what it’s all about.
“We offer full training, and no previous experience is necessary.”
