Seymour food share lends a helping hand
COMMUNITY Food Share Seymour is a new monthly initiative that aims to provide food relief to local people in need.
The joint project between Healthy Kids Mitchell and the Seymour Food Relief Collaborative is hosted by The Centre in Wallis Street at Seymour.
About fifty hampers of non-perishable goods were distributed at its recent launch.
In a statement, Member for Euroa, Annabelle Cleeland said the program would make a difference to the lives of many members of the Seymour community.
“It is a sad reality that many in our local region are doing it tough with the cost-of-living crisis,” she said.
“This program will make a real difference in helping these people get some much-needed help and some relief from soaring grocery prices, exorbitant bills, and the lingering impact of last year’s floods.
“I want to congratulate those involved on successfully launching this amazing program.
“As a community, we are stronger together than we are apart.”
Residents are invited to come along for a coffee and chat at the monthly sessions, and to share their recipes and food tips.
There will also be an opportunity to find out what additional services and supports are available.
The hampers are arranged through Shepparton Food Share, but members of the public are encouraged to donate unopened, non-perishable items to the program.
The Centre is at 3 Wallis Street at Seymour, next to Vinnies, call 1300 843 236 for further information.
