HEATHCOTE women gathered at The Watering Hole last Friday to celebrate International Women’s Day with an informal breakfast.

The event was organised by Heathcote Community House, Mandalay Resources and Heathcote Health.

“It is important for women to come together and recognise International Women’s Day,” said executive assistant at Heathcote Health, Michelle Chapman.

“It was great to be able to have a breakfast before work so more people could attend.

“They don’t always get the chance.”

Community house executive officer Vicki Forde said the informality was important.

Heathcote women celebrated International Women’s Day with breakfast at The Watering Hole last week.

“It is just about being together, caring and sharing our stories, and supporting each other in our community,” she said.

“We are very grateful to The Watering Hole for once again hosting the event.”

Senior Environment and Community Coordinator at Mandalay Resources, Kerstin Brauns, said it was terrific that so many women were able to attend.

“It is great that women can get together and share their stories,” she said.

“It is inspiring to hear all about how they have overcome obstacles to get where they are today.”

International Women’s Day originated in New York in 1909.
