THE Tooborac Community and Primary School have announced that a playgroup will be held at the school starting on Tuesday 16 July.

The primary school was deemed non-operational this year due to lack of enrolments.

At a community consultation meeting with the Department of Education earlier this year to discuss the future of the school it was suggested that a playgroup would be a good use of the premises and encourage future enrolments.

“The Tooborac community is really pleased to be able to run playgroup sessions during the school terms,” said Hannah Anderson.

“There will be songs, stories and an opportunity to explore the space of the school and the playground afterwards.

“We will also have a cuppa and a chat following the songs and stories.”

There will be a special theme for the playgroup each week.

“The theme for the first week is farm,” said Ms Anderson.

“All children and their families from the Tooborac and surrounding areas will be very welcome.”

The sessions begin at 9.15am and anyone interested can contact Ms Anderson on 0429 479 072.

The Tooborac Primary School Community Action Group met with representatives from the Department of Education last month.

As a school council cannot be formed without a principal and school parents a community advisory group was created with six members currently forming the Action Group.

One of the objectives is to develop and enrolment promotion.

The Advisory Group welcomed the appointment of Sandra Allison who will be the Tooborac Primary School Assistant Principal Liaison.

Ms Allison will be available at the school on Tuesdays.

She will be available to run tours and meet with prospective parents.

Ms Allison can be contacted on 5433 5225 or [email protected]
