PACIFIC Earth Day Spa’s first Vanuatu massage therapist Mary Geroge will be returning home this month and the organisation is holding a Kava tasting to honour the occasion.

The Pacific Earth Day Spa employs therapists from the pacific region and owner Joanne Wade was previously a resort owner in Vanuatu.

Ms Wade aimed to replicate the service provided in Vanuatu by opening her spa in Heathcote last December.

“Having lived in the Pacific for over 20 years I felt very confident that a south pacific styled day spa would succeed in Victoria,” she said.

“If anyone has been to Vanuatu or Fiji or anywhere in the South Pacific, they may have tried the products which are all organic and had a massage or facial while they were on holiday.”

Ms Wade said she has been overwhelmed with support from the community.

“When I opened the spa, which is very small and quite simple really, I had not anticipated how warmly the services and the products would be received,” she said.

“Central Victorian residents have embraced the concept and have especially loved my first two therapists Mary and Ireen.

“I think many people reminisce about their holidays and really relax when they are in the spa.”

Approval has been granted from City of Greater Bendigo to allow Ms Wade to hold Kava tastings, and the first will take place from 3pm this Saturday and Sunday to farewell Mary.

It is a drink made from Kava root which is traditionally held in a coconut shell.

“Saying goodbye to Mary gives us the impetus to open the garden for tastings and we will do this every Saturday afternoon for the next 8 months closing just for the winter,” said Ms Wade.
