Sporting grant eases financial pressure
PYALONG Netball Club was one of four hundred statewide sporting clubs selected for the latest Victorian Sporting Club Grants Program.
The $1000 State Government grant will go towards the club’s uniform library.
“We have cupboards in our rooms with uniforms in all sizes,” said club secretary Charleen Warburton.
“The uniforms are available for players to borrow and, if they have a growth spurt, they can easily change to a different size.
“With the price of uniforms, it is very important to ease the pressure on families and enable everyone to be able to play.
“We are very grateful to have received the grant.”
The Pyalong Netball Club is a junior club and has been running for 21 years.
“The club is expanding with 60 members coming not only from Pyalong but Heathcote, Kilmore and Tallarook too,” said Ms Warburton.
“There is one team in Under 9s, two in both Under 11 and 13s, and one in Under 15s.
“We are very proud of how well all of them are doing and new members are always welcome.
“There are only four rounds left in the competition and thanks to new court facilities completed last year we will be hosting a final for the first time.
“Everyone is looking forward to it.”
Pyalong Netball Club is based at the Pyalong Recreation Reserve on the Northern Highway.
