BRINGING to life silent movie classics, Heathcote Film Festival Committee and Munari Wines will present musical ensemble The Sounds of Silent on Saturday 29 November.

The event will allow the audience to enjoy an evening of film, jazz, fine wine and food.

“The Sounds of Silent are a five-piece ensemble, featuring some of Melbourne’s most versatile and accomplished musicians,” said film festival committee member Duncan McGann.

“They recreate the silent movie experience from the 1920s with improvised performances featuring fun, familiar, and popular music in the style of the period.

“The result is a vibrant and entertaining music and movie event, coming to Heathcote for the first time.”

There will be two films on show; a Buster Keyton short followed, by Charlie Chaplin classic The Gold Rush.

“This movie is renowned as the most successful silent movie of all time, being hailed as a classic for one hundred years,” Mr McGann said.

“This event is an expansion of the activities for the Heathcote Film Festival.

“After the success of the recent short film festival, the committee is seeking to present something unique for the residents of Heathcote and surrounds with the generous support of the Heathcote and District Community Bank.

“We are hoping this is the first of many opportunities for residents to enjoy an evening of film in some of our wonderful local venues.”

Mr McGann said the recently extended dining room at Munari Wines is the ideal venue to enjoy the event.

“Tickets cover the event and dinner, with Munari Wines available at bar prices,” he said.
