Storm cash available
RESIDENTS impacted by recent storms are being encouraged by a local MP to apply for newly announced emergency relief payments.
Payments are now available for eligible community members whose homes were damaged by the storms in Victoria.
Member for Euroa, Annabelle Cleeland, said that while the scope of the payments is limited, she will continue to push for increased compensation for those impacted by frequent power outages.
Payments will not be available for those who experienced power outages if their homes were not damaged or in an evacuation warning area.
“While these payments will be of great assistance to some, there are still too many people doing it tough due to regular power outages across our region,” said Ms Cleeland.
“Too many people are stuck with outrageous bills, damaged equipment and significant loss of business.
“On top of that there are residents, farmers and businesses all still feeling the impact of floods in our area.
“I have raised these issues in parliament and will continue to push to make sure our community gets the support they need, and deserve, to rebuild.”
