THE Dennis Gleeson MND Superchallenge hit a milestone on Australia Day.

Co-organiser and Never Give Up Group member Peter Cunningham said the first MND fundraiser at Heathcote Bowling Club in 2016 brought in over $20,000.

This year the total raised for MND Victoria over eight years reached $100,000.

It was a last-minute donation of $3000 from Moama Bowling Club that tipped the tally into six figures.

Earlier, a keenly fought auction saw a signed and framed Collingwood jumper go under the hammer for $1000 and several lots of local wine collecting generous bids.

Mr Cunningham said the day had been a great success.

“People who had not bowled before were coming up to me afterwards and saying they loved it, they’d be back next year and that tells me we’ve got it right,” he said.

“Obviously we’ve also got it right because of the reason we’re doing it.”

The Superchallenge winning team were Stanhope Bowls Club members Barry Williams, John Patterson and Geoff Mulcahey.

The Dennis Gleeson MND Superchallenge is an annual event organised by the Never Give Up Group to raise money for MND Victoria.
