Tex Perkins playing blues fest
AUSTRALIAN singer-songwriter Tex Perkins is set to return to Bendigo next month.
On Sunday, 6 November, Perkins will take to the Ulumbarra Theatre stage as part of the annual Bendigo Blues and Roots Music Festival.
Perkins will be joined by guitarist and singer-songwriter Matt Walker, playing alongside trio, the Kings of the Blues.
With a new single called Brand New Man to showcase, Walker said the pair are excited to return to the region.
“[The set] looks hot with an abstract perspective that will at first seem clear until it’s not. Of course, there will be a mix of songs, this century and last,” he said.
“We have tested [the new song] to all different audiences over the last few months and it always brings a shift, a new feeling in the room.”
Brand New Man was released this month, written for Perkins’ upcoming album, Other World. Walker said the album takes a new direction.
“The new album is a jump away from the jangle and stomp of the first Fat Rubber Band album. It’s as if we time shifted to the mid-70s and moved to the city,” Walker said.
“But you can still hear the swamp roots that tell of our shared history as a band. “
Perkins, Walker, and Kings of the Blues will perform from 3pm. Tickets can be booked at bit.ly/3swzsdC.
The Bendigo Blues and Roots Festival will run from Thursday, 3 November to Sunday, 6 November.
