The show’s a winner for all ages
Crowd numbers were up and there were attractions to suit all ages.
“It was especially great to see lots of kids enjoying themselves,” said show secretary Robyn Donovan. “It was a really good show.
“The weather was lovely and warm, and we had lots of good feedback. Stallholders were happy, and the rides had people on them all the time.
“The yard dogs are always popular as well as the horse events.
“Prize winners from the arts and crafts section were all pleased with the results and the perfume from the flowers when you walked into the pavilion was divine.
“The show committee is looking forward to making the show even bigger and better next year.”
Committee member Laraine Leask was thrilled when her granddaughter Taylah won first prize in the junior drop scones section.
“During COVID restrictions, my grandchildren stayed with me as their parents were essential workers,” she said.
“We would do schoolwork each morning and we spent afternoons in the kitchen. We called it COVID Cooking and it’s great to see the ongoing results.
“Taylah even learned fractions from the cooking sessions as many recipes called for half or quarter cups of certain ingredients.”
Showman’s Guild delegate Adam Reardon said showmen always enjoy bringing their rides and attractions to Heathcote.
“The Heathcote Show committee, and the people of Heathcote always treat us very well and we appreciate it,” he said.
“There are some locations where we are treated like second class citizens with people thinking we just come into town, take their money and leave.
“It’s not like that at all. At every show we attend we give back by visiting the local supermarkets, pubs and eateries and filling up with fuel.
“It’s a win for everyone and we are really glad the Heathcote community understand that and welcome us each year.”
